My name is Emmet McEvilley and I'm studying mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where I work on ankle exoskeleton research at the MetaMobility Lab. I love engineering, design, and making awesome systems — and I believe half of engineering is documenting your work so others can understand it and build on it.
Projects
Open-Source Ankle Exoskeleton
Within Carnegie Mellon University's MetaMobility Lab, I spent the summer of 2026 developing an open-source ankle exoskeleton to improve gait stability and support rehabilitation in clinical populations. The project now focuses on documenting and sharing the design so that other researchers can recreate and build upon it.
The Dawn Accipiter
People got through the pandemic in various ways. I spent much of it trying to design a LEGO® spaceship that felt unique yet undeniably Star Wars—where neither the look nor the mechanisms compromised the other. After a year of experimenting, designing, building, and revising, I completed what you see here. All part files are available below.
OnlyOdds
I co-founded OnlyOdds, a community-based micro-prediction app where friends and groups create questions about real-life moments—from social predictions and campus events to sports and everyday outcomes—and compete to see who’s right. The app uses an ELO-style rating system to track prediction performance and is currently under development.
Spectral
I worked with a team to develop an MVP concept addressing biker safety through market research and stakeholder interviews within the biking industry as part of a Carnegie Mellon University course.
